I know, I’m speaking blasphemy here!
Everyone knows “thoughts create things”, “You get what you think about”, and “your thoughts create your reality”.
And that may be true, but it’s not true as well. And I think it high time someone said so.
“Our human minds, through long periods of social conditioning, have been taught to think negatively by default. As a result, most people create negatively by default.”
It’s not what you’re thinking, it’s who you’re being…
I think it’s more accurate to say “we get who we are being”. And our being is more than just our thoughts. It’s also our feelings, beliefs, attitudes, habits, actions, values, and even our level of connection (to others, to nature, to soul or higher self).
So when I read all the books by all the teachers about managing our thoughts, I don’t disagree. I just think that for some people managing our thoughts is virtually impossible and leads to frustration.
And I think it’s just one part of the whole puzzle.
As a coach, working with thousands of clients, I’ve come to realize that there are a number of “being” factors that more of a difference, and a faster difference at that, than only focusing on the thoughts that we think.
Four kinds of wisdom…
We’ve given so much power to mind, but the heart and the body have a wisdom of their own too. And often their interventions are faster and more powerful than the mind.
Did you know the emotions are so powerful they can override the brain entirely and send us into emotional-physical fight, flight or freeze? When that happens the right and left higher brain functionings are disconnected and all resources in the entire system are allocated toward reacting to a perceived threat. Unless you’ve been practicing sincerely aligning all systems, you’re thrown into “reaction mode” and mental wisdom is unavailable.
Studies have been done that show some, possibly all actions are taken first, then the thought occurs. If this is true then where does that leave “thoughts create your reality”. Sounds like your body could something to do with manifestation first. And it may also have something to do with our feelings, seeming like they “shut down” or derail our goals?
This could be why so many people struggle, making themselves wrong when they set a goal or intention and try to carry it through mental states alone.
“When you set an intent, especially if it’s an extremely powerful intent, what the mind does first, is it brings everything up; every thought, every feeling, every belief, Every idea, every attitude, Every memory that seems to run contrary to the intent.”
Hale Dwoskin, The Sedona Method
You may have not realized it yet, but there is super good news in all this!
It’s all about the being….
It’s not your thoughts, it’s your being…and knowing that, knowing what to do with that knowledge can change the way you manifest goals in your life.
Think about the last time you manifested something for yourself, especially if it was a bigger goal, or you wanted it fast. Was it just your head, your thoughts? Or did your entire being get involved?
Didn’t you feel passion for that goal? Didn’t you want to take action in the direction of your goal? Didn’t your thoughts naturally focus on solutions, action steps, opportunities and resources? Of course!
When we talk of “aligning” ourselves with our goals or intents this is what we actually mean; bringing our thoughts, our emotions, our actions into harmony and making changes that are in alignment with our committed choice for something new.
Manifestation Process in 3 simple steps…
The process of manifestation itself is super simple; Ask, Align, Allow.
But simple isn’t always easy.
Clarity is necessary to ask. Until we are clear about what we want, we’re sending mixed signals. It’s like ordering at a restaurant and then changing our mind over and over. The waiter never gets a clear order back to the chef.
As I discussed, alignment is not just our thoughts alone, but our beliefs, attitudes, habits, emotional mastery, physical actions and much more.
And that third step, although the most simple, natural step, is by far the step I see people struggle with. This is where expectations, disappointments, and frustrations arise. Until we relearn how to freely receive we undo the very manifestations we’ve been nurturing. (to get a head start on this one, see an earlier blog post, We Broke One Of The Oldest Taboos, Find Out What Happened… here.
A Personal Manifestation Process is more like a set of ever changing puzzle pieces…
20 years ago I read “Think and Grow Rich” at the suggestion of a mentor. I struggled with it. It had made such a difference in his life. But until I applied the rich mastery of Karla McLaren and her “Language of the Emotions”, with the breath and body of work of many fine teachers, and the intuitive work of Doreen Virtue in “Divine Guidance” all under the umbrella of my coaches training with Quantum Spirit International, I couldn’t really get anywhere.
What I learned is that manifestation may be simple, but it looks a bit different and works a bit different for each of us, at each stage of our life and being.
All this summer I’m going to be diving deeper into this topic of manifesting what you want and how that relates to who you are being and becoming.
Come join me?
I hope you’ll accompany me on the journey, either here in comments, through my newsletter, on my upcoming webinars or live events; or even in my upcoming BLUEPRINT FOR YOUR SUCCESS, where I plan to guide a small group of intentional individuals in uncovering their own DESIGN for MANIFESTING for themselves.
I’d love to hear from you in the comments below!
